Objectives of the TIL:

  1. To educate and disseminate the psychological basics of traumatology. We aim to provide insights into the origins, diagnostics and treatment of traumatic disorders that are especially relevant to organisations and institutions in the health system as well as schools, kindergartens or private persons.

  2. To organise scientific events on interdisciplinary subjects between psychotraumatology and related disciplines.

The TIL sees its role as that of a coordinator of specialist events in which trauma researchers, therapists of different genres, successfully treated trauma clients, brain researchers, various medical specialists, pedagogues, politicians can exchange ideas on a mutual platform.

  3. To conduct further training courses as a:
  • Specialised trauma adviser according to the guidelines of the German Society for Psychotraumatology (DeGPT),
  • Trauma psychotherapist for treating complex traumas and other disorders with the SPIM-20-KT method (a specialised TIL training)
  • Trauma psychotherapist according to the guidelines of the German Society for Psychotraumatology (DeGPT).

The training modules can be sequenced individually and flexibly in agreement with the TIL. The modules aim to train interested participants of specific academic professions (see criteria below) the basics of psychotraumatology. In addition trainees will receive training in effective counselling and psychotherapeutic methods. The training will also entail teaching of psychotherapy and stabilisation techniques for avoiding traumas; basic insights into and a psychodynamic understanding of traumatic origins; and, finally, developing psychological self-awareness for counsellors and therapists.
  • After successfully completing the course a specialised trauma adviser will be able to coordinate and mediate competently between various social institutions and specialised psychotherapists.
  • Trauma psychotherapists for complex traumatised patients will be able to apply the SPIM-20-KT method effectively, especially in the area of chronic psychotrauma of DESNOS and DDNOS.
  • General trauma psychotherapists will be able to treat both chronic complex traumatised and acutely traumatised patients more effectively.
